Casting a gentleman slug in resin part 3

Description

1. Alginate removed and I've cleaned up the edges, I just had a tiny bit of seepage in a couple of places but it was easily removed and won't effect the casting. I've attached some tubes of clay and a drinking straw to the sculpt, these will form the pour and air release holes. WHAT WAS I THINKING! Well I wasn't is the answer, that pour hole was totally wrong, how the hell was I going to remove that from the mould once cast? Unfortunately I didn't even think about it until I'd poured the second half, but it was easily remedied, I just plugged up that hole in the mould with some clay once it was set, I'll plug it up permanently with some silicone at some point when I can be bothered. I just used the air release hole in the tail end as the pour hole instead, it works just fine.
2. Mould box reassembled, the second part of the silicon degassed and poured. You absolutely have to give your mould a good coating of mould release or you'll be doing a lot of cutting and it will probably ruin it. I use a spray mould release called Mac Wax, you can use petroleum jelly brushed on but you have to be careful about brush marks, silicone will pick up the smallest detail.
3. Back in the vacuum chamber.
4. Pouring another lot of silicone into the base mould. Again I degassed the silicone before pouring but couldn't fit it in the vacuum chamber to degas again as it's too big (I only had the small chamber at that point)
5. Finished base mould
6. Finished slug mould
7. Unfortunately Old Reginald didn't survive the moulding process, but that's the way it is sometimes with mediums like Monster clay or oil clays that never set. Even though he's ruined I cant bring myself to melt him down so I can reuse the clay, I don't know, it just feels wrong somehow....maybe I'm just crazy.
